Michael Hill
Company Director; Qualified Funeral Director; Embalmer
Born and raised in Levin attending Levin East School and Waiopehu College for his schooling years. For the first portion of Michael's life he followed in his family's footsteps working in the transportation industry for many years which included managing and owning businesses in agribusiness and logistics.
Married to his wife Liz and with two young daughters, Michael wanted a career change and was presented with an oppportunity to work alongside Milton & Arini Bowler here at Harvey Bowlers Funeral Services. Completling his diploma in Funeral Directing in 2000, Michael has served our communities and their families for nearly three decades.
With always having an interest in trucks and tractors, there is always something on the go! Just wait until summer and then you will find him out in the country paddocks hay making, at a vintage tractor show, or cruising in his ERF truck with his Northern Classic Commercial friends.

Liz Hill
Company Director, Funeral Director, Accounts & Administration, Flower Guru
Liz grew up in Shannon, attending the local schools and Manawatu College.
A career in administration started at Manawatu Dairy Company, followed by 10 years in the legal field working for a local solicitor.
Liz continued working on their rural property with two young daughters and became involved in School PTA meetings, coaching netball and fundraising etc. Liz returned to work in 2004 when Michael and herself purchased Harvey Bowler.
Having an “eye for detail” and having done a course in floristry, Liz will happily discuss your floral arrangements in detail. In her spare time you will find Liz in her garden …….or talking to a dog outside the office!

Gemma Hill
Administration & Events, Funeral Director, Accounts
Gemma joined the family business in 2019, stepping in to support her parents with the management and day-to-day operations of the company.
Born and raised right here in Levin, Gemma attended Ohau School and Horowhenua College before going on to earn a Bachelor of Communications (so we’re pretty confident she knows what she’s talking about!). After years of client management experience in fast moving consumer goods, it was nice to be able to come home and help others in a more meaningful way. She brings a wealth of experience across the board including event management experience, catering, marketing, customer relations, and leadership management.
Outside of work, Gemma is a proud wife and mother to a young son. She is deeply passionate about growth, whether she’s focusing on personal development or encouraging and supporting others to reach their full potential.

Andrew Judd
Qualified Funeral Director; Embalmer & Monumental Advisor
Andrew joined the team in 2010, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge after starting his career in funeral service in 1981.
Today, as a qualified Funeral Director; Embalmer, and Monumental Advisor, Andrew is known for his compassion, gentle guidance, and meticulous attention to detail.
When he isn’t supporting local families, Andrew enjoys spending quality time as a proud father and grandfather. A passionate classic car enthusiast, you’ll often spot him out for a cruise behind the wheel of his prized vintage Austin.

Paul Waters
Qualified Embalmer; Funeral Director; Monumental Advisor
Paul joined the Harvey Bowler team in 2018, bringing a wealth of hands-on industry experience from his previous role as a Cemetery Sexton and Cremator Operator in the Wellington region. He also leads our casket department with his experience in Carpentry.
As a fully qualified Embalmer, as well as a Funeral Director and Monumental Advisor, his practical expertise and versatile skills make him an invaluable part of our care for families.
Born and raised in England, Paul is a proud Englishman and a passionate football fan (and former player!). At home, he is a proud husband and father. When he’s off the clock, you’ll most likely find him tinkering away on odd jobs in his barn, taking his bike out for a relaxing Sunday cruise through the countryside, or enjoying a round of golf.

Caitlin Matehaere
Administrator & Event Planner
Caitlin joined us in 2022, marking the start of her career in the funeral industry. As an Administrator and Event Planner, she is most likely the first person you’ll see or speak to when contacting us—seamlessly organising every detail on behalf of our funeral directors and the families we care for. When she isn't organising, she will be hard at work putting together the designs for service sheets, photo tributes and more!
Born and raised in Foxton, Caitlin attended PNGHS and brings a strong background in hospitality, customer service, and event management to her role.
A proud mother to her two children, Caitlin has a big heart for her community and loved ones. In her spare time, you’ll almost always find her lending a helping hand to friends and family whenever she gets the chance.

Brendon Ellis
Funeral Assistant; Embalmer; Monumental Support
Brendon joined the Harvey Bowler team in 2023, bringing a compassionate, personable approach to his work as a Funeral Assistant and Embalmer. As a local Levin resident, he is deeply committed to supporting families in our community with care, respect, and understanding during life’s most delicate moments.
At home, Brendon is a proud father and grandfather who loves spending quality time with his family. When he’s looking for a bit of excitement off the clock, you’ll likely find him out on the local beaches indulging his passion as a blowkart enthusiast.
